Every time I’m about to leave home, my mom gives me a piece of jewelry connected to Bolivia. She knows how homesick I get, and this is her way of making me feel understood while reminding me of my roots. The ring on the left symbolizes the Illimani mountain which is such an important part of my city’s landscape, it’s a constant presence and an emblem of my home. The ring on the right is an Inca calendar, it’s pretty interesting, and you can appreciate some animals in traditional Inca designs. While I don’t completely understand it, the craftsmanship is amazing. These rings are meaningful reminders of my roots and heritage.
